Stop letting the No’s effect you

None of us truly like to hear the word “No”. Let’s just be honest, we would rather hear, “let me think about it” instead of “no”. But what does the word “no” really mean? The dictionary defines no as “a negative answer or decision”. Proverbs 16:1 MSG says, “Mortals make elaborate plans but God has the last word.” The world is quick to tell you “no” if what you’re planning to do goes against what they think you’re capable of doing. Don’t let a “no” stop you, but let it push you because God has the final say. If every time someone tells you “no” and you stop doing what you want to do, then are you really living? You also have to remember that delay doesn’t mean denied. If I let every time someone said no to me stop me, I wouldn’t be able to write this blog. My list of no’s started from the age of two and now I’m 35 years old. If you think your “no’s” are bad try hearing some of these: “She won’t walk or talk and she will need 24 hour care”. “Eboni, you have to abort your baby because if you keep it, you and the baby will die.” “Nobody will want you because you’re disabled.” “How are you going to take care of him and you can’t walk?” The list goes on-and-on. Hearing such negative things throughout your life would make you want to quit. I won’t say that I didn’t cry and think about quitting because I definitely did. But I dried my tears and I told God “thank you for holding me up and reminding me that you have the final say”. So the next time you feel like letting your “no’s” stop you, remember who has the final say. Are you living to inspire or expire? Love, Eboni P.
